Getting old SUCKS
It's official.. Between turning 45 in 2009 and this damn Mercury Retrograde, I have had a string of pain and bad crap. I am officially getting old! My arthritis has been awful. I went to the doc, got new meds for pain and inflammation. I have been in an unmanageable amount of pain. Well, the new meds kicked in after only a couple of days and I started to feel some relief, although I was still walking like the tin man, which sucks. I hate limping and I hate making a scene. Well, I was out in my "soap room" the other night. I am still pretty "gimped up", but I was feeling a huge amount of gratification from helping my husband and my son, which was doing wonders for my mood. We had made 3 batches of soap (I did little of the work) and we were organizing and cleaning the store room, when I turned to the right while standing still and heard a loud "POP" and a cracking sound. The pain was immediate and excruciating, and I actually yelled out! My husband came running and I was barely able to mumble "hurt my knee" to him. Oh man... it hurt like HELL. After a few minutes, Bill helped me hobble over to a chair and I sat down. My poor old knee started swelling immediately and it was hurting still so much that I could barely handle it. We iced it which helped reduce the pain and swelling some, and I was able to hobble to the bedroom. I felt like I should go to the ER but the copays are so high anymore that I decided to tough it out. I called the consulting nurse for my doctor and she made me an appointment for early the next morning, which was good. I didn't sleep much, but it did feel a little better when I got up in the morning. The doc ordered an MRI which I will have next Saturday. In the meantime I have to hobble around and try to rest it as much as possible. I'm still shaking my head at how stupid it is for me to injure myself this much STANDING STILL. Grrrrr.....

Mercury Retrogade Hell
We have officially entered a Mercury Retrograde, and mine came with a BANG. Here is a brief explanation of what this is..
Mercury turns retrograde September 7th, 2009 at 6 Libra - 12:39 am EST
Mercury turns direct September 29th, 2009 at 21 Virgo - 9:03 am
"In general, Mercury rules thinking and perception, processing and disseminating information and all means of communication, commerce, education and transportation. By extension, Mercury rules people who work in these areas, especially those who work with their minds or their wits: writers and orators, commentators and critics, gossips and spin doctors, teachers, travellers, tricksters and thieves.
Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. And all of these problems usually arise because some crucial piece of information, or component, has gone astray or awry.
It is not exactly wise to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is likely that such decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics tend to be less acute than usual, as the critical faculties are dimmed. Make sure you pay attention to the small print!" (This information borrowed from http://www.astrologycom.com/mercret.html )
I awoke after a long night of working on my feet (shortly after retrograde began) to a phone call from the County Jail. My 3rd son is once again in jail and this time for possessing alcohol, giving it to his underage girlfriend and for "getting in the face" of a police officer. Obviously the retrograde is effecting my son's judgment in many ways, and his mouth too. He has a $1,000 bail and I am being a tough-love kind of mom here and I am letting him sit there. I don't understand what in the world he is thinking! I have talked to him about his cavalier attitude these days and he assured me he has everything "under control"... HAH. I am fuming and worried all at once!
It's going to be a long 22 days of this retrograde. Take heed and be careful, everyone!
